Norfolk Chief Gets High Marks

Chief Carl Holmes and Dennis Rubin

It is apparent that Norfolk’s new chief has the capability and the stature to elevate the Norfolk Fire and Paramedical Service from among the best in the state to one of the finest in the nation. The City of Norfolk and the region deserve this outstanding chief.

Evidence of his ability is the establishment of the department’s Fire Officer Institute. In its first session Rubin brought in two of the most widely recognized names in fire education, Chief Alan V. Brunacini, chief of the Phoenix Fire Department and Oklahoma City Fire Chief (ret.), Carl Holmes. It would not be far from the truth to say, these gentlemen wrote the book on professional fire and rescue work.

I am privileged to say that I took advantage of the training opportunity and count it among the best I have attended in the nineteen years I have served in the profession.

In my opinion, anyone considering a career in emergency services will benefit from an association with this progressive department. Lead, follow, or get out of the way_ I’d say you better make a hole, I believe Chief Rubin is coming through.
